St Ives has long been celebrated for its "quality of light"; indeed, that was the title of an art showcase across the area a couple of years ago. The Tate St Ives was at the centre of that event, and this summer it has made the most of a new twist to the old reputation - the quality of dark from last week's eclipse. It has titled the summer's exhibitions "As Dark as Light", in a programme that has involved several artists and which now closes with new photograms by Garry Fabian Miller.

Appropriately, Miller works in the dark, using the basic principles of camera-less photography, passing light through filters of oil and water on to cibachrome paper to create intensely coloured circles ringed by halos of brighter light. It's a method he's been using for a while, so it would be wrong to suggest that he's set out simply to represent the eclipse, but the results look perfectly in tune with it: fiery oranges and yellows or velvety purples echoing the paths of sun and moon. They are mysterious and uplifting images.
