Photographers from as far apart as Chile to Vietnam document a huge variety of subjects from the Mangystau night sky in Kazakhstan to the fire dragon dance in Southern China.

The Open category was judged on a single shot taken by an amateur photographer and the 10 winners will now go on to compete for the Open Photographer of the Year title.

Damien Demolder, Presiding Chair of Jury for the Open competition comments: "In so many ways there are heftier chunks of real life and soul in amateur images than there are in the professional categories - because amateurs do it for the love of taking pictures."

The Youth competition was open to photographers aged 19 and under and the overall winners in these categories will be announced at the Sony World Photography Awards Gala ceremony on 25th April.
