Observations: The art of snails

By Rhoda Koenig

From 26 to 28 September, the Wellcome Collection will expand your idea of what drawing can do and who can do it (everybody – that means you). Scientists, artists, and performers are collaborating on a range of weird and wonderful – and free – workshops, in which drawings will be transformed into choral music and meditation will guide you to find and draw "the seat of the soul".

The illustrator Steven Appleby and musician Nathan Lee will create a trio for flute, beatbox, and crayon, and the geneticist Steve Jones will speak on snails in art and the art of snails. Aficionados of the miniature and macabre should enjoy the Little Theatre of Disease and Desire, in which the artist Daniel Baker turns the traditional toy theatre into one for operations. And everybody can be reminded of the importance of anatomy for life drawing (also on offer).
