A collection of the best press photography from around the world goes on display at the Scottish Parliament on Saturday.

Whittled down from more than 108,000 images, The World Press Photo Exhibition 2011 displays the most captivating, eye-catching and moving photographs of the year.

Capturing on film the culture, natural disasters and armed conflict of countries across the globe, these images speak to the viewer with shocking clarity.

The Scottish Parliament is one of only two venues in the UK, and the only Parliament worldwide, to exhibit the World Press Photo Exhibition.

The World Press Photo Exhibition 2011 runs at the Scottish Parliament, Main Hall, Holyrood, Edinburgh, from Saturday 6 August until 27 August. Visitors can enjoy the exhibition free of charge. For more information, visit www.scottish.parliament.uk
