Midnight in Paris (12a)
Will this, his 41st film, be the long awaited return to form all Woody Allen fans crave? Well, advanced reviews of his romantic comedy have been reasonably kind. Owen Wilson plays a jaded Hollywood screenwriter who is holidaying in Paris with his nagging fiancé (Rachel McAdams). While she goes shopping, Gil finds himself transported to 1920s Paris - meeting the like of Ernest Hemingway, F Scott Fitzgerald and Salvador Dali. It has an element of magic realism, then, like Allen's sublime The Purple Rose of Cairo. A good sign.
