English artist Piers Secunda talks about his unique approach of casting paint to "force painting into a sculptural realm". He describes convincing Chinese soldiers to shoot machine guns at sheets of paint to apply texture. His recent decision to apply "geo-political texture" to his work led him to Afghanistan, where he made a "record of the physical manifestations of the Taliban's activities" by casting bullet holes left by fire fights.
