AS AN exhibition of the work of the Japanese architect Tadao Ando comes to a close this week, the work of another major Japanese architect, Kisho Kurakawa, opens at the Architecture Foundation in London. Kurakawa designs massive and highly expressive buildings; the Foundation says that the design of the exhibition is the closest thing that those who have not travelled to Japan can get to the real thing.

Tadao Ando, Beyond Horizons in Architecture, until 23 July, RIBA, 66 Portland Place, London W1 (071 580 5533). Kisho Kurakawa, Recent Projects, until 27 August, Architecture Foundation, Ryder Court, 14 Ryder Street, London SW1 (071 839 9389).
