Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary art grows out of modern art gallery

The sixth installment of the APT at the Queensland Art Gallery, the only major exhibition to exclusively showcase contemporary art hailing from Asia, the Pacific and Australia, will now encompass the region's modern art gallery and several other galleries, including the watermall.

The exhibition will feature more than 100 works from artists hailing from more than 25 countries located in the Asia Pacific region including Asia, the Pacific and Australia. There will be many new exhibitors at APT, including artists from Tibet, North Korea, Turkey and Iran.

The APT will feature programs and projects on Asian Reggae, cinematic art in the subwestern part of Asia as well as an 11-day interactive artwork program for children during their summer break.

The Triennial has been running since 1993 and boasted an attendance of over 700,000 visitors in 2006.
