Wednesday 09 February 2011
This week's art websites explore liquid as it is transformed into a solid form through science, nature and/or art.
Sachiko Kodama - http://sachikokodama.com/flash/
Japanese artist Sachiko Kodama works with a material called ferrofluid, capturing its dynamic transition from liquid to crystal-like structures when it comes into contact with a magnetic field.
Felice Limosani - http://www.felicelimosani.com/
Italian creative director Felice Limosani is best known for his interactive installations with companies such as Swarovski, Docomo, Mercedes, Viktor & Rolf, Just Cavalli, Emilio Pucci, and Nokia. Limosani often revisits the themes of liquid metal and fluid-to-solid in his works.
Gerry Chu - http://www.gerrychu.com/
Gerry Chu is an artist who converts the way we think of liquids. His "Drip Fountain" project makes water appear to be solid while his "Solid Liquid" project is a solid sculpture that resembles water in its fluid state.

Martin Waugh - http://www.liquidsculpture.com/
Photographer Martin Waugh combines science, art and high-speed photography to create his "liquid sculptures."
Matthew Barney & Bjork - http://unit.bjork.com/specials/dr9/
Drawing Restraint 9 is a joint project between Matthew Barney and Bjork that tracks an immense sculpture of liquid Vaseline as it is "molded, poured, bisected and reformed" on the deck of a ship.
