Weekly arts agenda: Frieze Art Fair, Multiplied Contemporary Editions Fair

During the week of October 11 the annual Frieze Art Fair will take over London's Regent's Park. Christie's Auction House will also host the first Multiplied Art Fair, an event that showcases contemporary art editions in all their forms.
Frieze Art Fair
Frieze Art Fair is an annual event that groups together outstanding artwork from more than 170 contemporary art galleries from across the globe. Over 60,000 visitors come each year to explore the latest trends in contemporary art and to see work made by living artists. The event also includes a rich program of specially commissioned artworks, artist talks, film and performance projects, and artist-led education workshops.
Multiplied Contemporary Editions Fair
Christie's, 85 Old Brompton Road
Multiplied Art Fair is hosted by renowned art auction house Christie's. The fair presents contemporary art editions in all its forms, including photographs, prints, artist's books and numbered copies of three-dimensional works. Approximately 30 contemporary galleries will participate in the inaugural edition of the fair in 2010.
Cour Carrée, Louvre Museum & Tuileries Garden / Grand Palais
More than 200 galleries and 3,500 artists will be represented at the 37th edition of FIAC in Paris. This famous contemporary art fair showcases the best in modern and contemporary art and is one of the leading launchpads for up-and-coming artists in the world. Artworks are arranged in chronological order and range from electronic arts through painting, sculpture, installations, soundworks and conceptual art.
Avenue Des Champs-Elysées
Run concurrently to Paris's prestigious FIAC art fair, the Art Elysées art fair lines the iconic Avenue des Champs-Elysées with modern and contemporary artworks from new and established galleries. Seventy galleries will expose artworks ranging from sculpture, painting, drawing and mixed media in two specially created pavilions measuring 4,000 meters squared.

YouTube Play. A Biennial of Creative Video is a new competition launched by video-sharing website YouTube and New York's Guggenheim Museum that aims both to inspire the creation of new video works and to showcase the far-ranging possibilities of a screen-based exhibition. Twenty of the more than 23,000 submitted videos will be available for public viewing at the Guggenheim Museum in New York, then the Guggenheim Museums in Bilbao, Berlin and Venice from October 22 to 24. The shortlisted videos can also be viewed online.
Sculpture by the Sea

Sculpture by the Sea is an annual exhibition that takes sculptures out of the gallery and onto the beach. Hundreds of thousands of art lovers are attracted to the free cultural event where visitors can take a walk along the beach and contemplate over 100 contemporary artworks juxtaposed with Australia's natural surroundings.
Art.Fair 21: 21st Century Art
October 29-November 1

The eighth edition of Art.Fair 21 will house contemporary works of art made by German and international artists born after 1960. An expected 30,000 visitors will be welcomed to explore the paintings, sculptures, photography, performance works and new media housed in the Fair's expansive 10,000 square meters of exhibition space.

Salon de la Photo is a major photographic fair held every year in Paris. Visitors come to discover the latest innovations from leading photography brands, purchase new equipment and to view the work of leading photographers from around the world. More than 80,000 visitors are expected to attend in 2010.

PINTA is an annual event that highlights the best of Latin American art selected by prestigious galleries from the United States, Latin America and Europe. In 2010, 50 galleries will put on display museum-quality abstract, concrete, neo-concrete, kinetic and conceptual works of art. PINTA coincides with Christie's and Sotheby's Latin American art auctions.

Former factory buildings behind Zurich-Oerlikon railway station
Eighty international galleries will take part in the 2010 KUNST 10 Zurich contemporary art fair for its 16th edition. More than 20,000 visitors attending the fair will be exposed to a mixture of contemporary, classic and modern art from Swiss and international galleries.
The first ever Salon d'Automne was held in 1903 and was organized by four famous French artists; André Derain, Henri Matisse, Albert Marquet and Georges Rouault. In 2010 the Salon d'Automne continues the tradition of showcasing expressive art indicative of art movements taking place in the contemporary 21st century. Over 450 artists and exhibitors from around the world will display paintings, sculptures, drawings, engravings, photography, mural art design, books, videos, installations, performance art and digital art works.

Carrousel Du Louvre
Paris Photo is one of the world's leading photography events. Organizers expect 40,000 visitors to attend the event. More than 100 galleries and publishers will present a wide-ranging overview of photographic works spanning from 19th century classics to abstract and artistic compositions captured by contemporary artists. In 2010 the event coincides with the "Mois de la Photo," a month-long photographic event in Paris.
ST-ART European Contemporary Art Fair

The 15th edition of the European Contemporary Art Fair in Strasbourg is focused on making contemporary art available to everyone. Around 100 galleries will exhibit works from all over the globe for an expected crowd of 28,000 visitors. Organizers hope to empower first-time buyers and returning art collectors by giving them the possibility to purchase artworks made by artists who are embracing and creating new art movements throughout Europe and the rest of the world.
