BOOK REVIEW / Paperbacks: The Road to Roaringwater: A Walk Down the West of Ireland by Christopher Somerville, HarperCollins pounds 6.99
Somerville makes a most agreeable, level-headed, whimsy-free companion if you fancy an armchair walk the length of Ireland. His landscaping is punctuated by bits of history and social observation and occasional useful Hints for the Walker (such as, carry a Dazer - an electronic dog-frightener which the author promises will scare the fiercest mutt).
