The iconic Where's Wally? (aka Where's Waldo?) collection is due to celebrate its 25th anniversary with a range of new books and releases, announced publisher The Walker Group on May 17. The releases will include spin-offs of the original collection and will be rolled out around the globe in 2012.

Fans can expect "a new range of formats and content," according to publishers, including "character-driven spin-offs" based on the search-and-find premise of Martin Handford's original Where's Wally? series.

First published in 1987, Where's Wally? titles have sold 50 million copies worldwide and been published in 38 countries and 27 languages. Recently released iPhone apps based on the books have sold more than 100 million units. In 2009, it was reported that Universal was planning to adapt the series into a live-action family film.
