Mortenson's new book, Stones Into Schools: Promoting Peace with Books, Not Bombs, in Afghanistan and Pakistan, out December 1, follows the author's continued efforts to build schools across rural Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Celebrity actors lend their voices to Audio Bible project

A complete audio version of the New King James Bible was released in October by Christian publishing company Thomas Nelson. A nearly four-year project, The Word of Promise, all 98 hours and 79 CDs worth, uses more than 600 actors, plus full score and sound effects, to tell every story of the Old and New Testament.

Psychoanalyst Carl Gustav Jung's original illuminated manuscript, The Red Book, only seen previously by a handful of people, is now on display for the first time at the Rubin Museum of Art, in New York City, through January 25, 2010. Some well-known artists will discuss the work.

On November 24, Michael Crichton's final complete novel will be published internationally by HarperCollins. Pirate Latitudes was discovered as a complete manuscript in the author's files after his death in 2008.
