Sterling Children's Books announced February 1 that it will publish a picture book inspired by Bob Dylan's song "Man Gave Names to All the Animals." Due out in September 2010, the book will be illustrated by artist and naturalist Jim Arnosky and will come with a CD featuring Dylan's original recording of the song.

The Bookseller's annual Diagram Prize for Oddest Book Title of the Year has drawn a record number of submissions for the 2009 award, announced prize organizer Horace Best on February 2. The UK trade magazine will announce a shortlist on February 19, followed by a public vote to determine the winner.

Following the death of American author J.D. Salinger on January 27, the author's publisher, Penguin imprint Hamish Hamilton based in the UK, announced its plans to re-launch its Salinger titles with new cover designs approved by the author. The books will be published in June.

Amazon.com's list of weekly bestselling Kindle e-books, released February 2 by Publishers Marketplace, shows Kathryn Stockett's The Help, Dear John by Nicholas Sparks, and The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold hanging on to the top three spots. Robert Craig's new release The First Rule is also among the most popular e-books for the week ending January 30.
