Amazon.com announced November 11 that it will publish three novels as part of its ongoing AmazonEncore program, which identifies promising self-published books and partners with authors to re-introduce or introduce the books to readers.
Three new novels will enter the AmazonEncore catalog in February 2010: Perfect on Paper: The (Mis)Adventures of Waverly Bryson, by first-time novelist Maria Murnane; A Wish After Midnight by Zetta Elliott, an American Library Association 2009 Notable Children's Book author; and They Never Die Quietly by former book editor Daniel Annechino. All three books were previously self-published via BookSurge, which prints books on demand.
Announced in May 2009, AmazonEncore uses a combination of sales data and customer feedback to identify "exceptional, overlooked books and authors that show potential for greater sales." Amazon then markets the books and distributes them via multiple channels and formats: as an Amazon.com edition available on Amazon websites worldwide, in physical bookstores, as a digital Kindle download, and as an audio download on Audible.com.
AmazonEncore's first title, Legacy by 16-year-old Cayla Kluver, was released in August 2009. The three new titles will be available in February 2010.
