James Patterson, international best-selling author of the Alex Cross detective series, is set to collaborate on a set of original comic stories and graphic novel adaptations of his novels, announced IDW Publishing on February 16. The first title, a story based on Patterson's young adult novel
Witch & Wizard, is due out in May 2010.
Witch & Wizard: Battle for Shadowland will take siblings Whit and Wisty Allgood on a new adventure against the totalitarian New Order, the theme of Patterson's original novel. Dara Naraghi will write the story, with direction from Patterson, and Victor Santos will provide illustrations and cover art. J.K. Woodward will contribute a painted cover for the debut issue of the five-part series.
In June, Patterson's non-fiction book The Murder of King Tut will be released in a graphic adapation, the first in a series of four. Novelist and comic writer Alexander Irvine will write the story, Christopher Mitten and Ron Randall will illustrate, and Darwyn Cooke will provide covers.
James Patterson's books, including the Alex Cross and Women's Murder Club series, have sold more than 170 million copies worldwide.
