On Amazon.com's list of weekly bestselling Kindle e-books, released February 16 by Publishers Marketplace, the top three titles for the week ending February 13 are long-standing favorites
Dear John by Nicholas Sparks,
The Help by Kathryn Stockett, and
The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson.
The romance Dear John, published in December 2009, is in the number one spot following the release in the US of a feature film based on the novel. Kathryn Stockett's The Help has been an enduring best-seller in print and electronic versions since it was published a year ago. Stieg's Larsson The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo is the first installment in the Swedish author's internationally bestselling Millenium series
Dennis Lehane's psychological thriller Shutter Island, first published in 2003, climbed into the top ten list in anticipation of the release of the novel's film adaptation, directed by Martin Scorcese. The author's 2001 title Mystic River was also made into a feature film, that one directed by Clint Eastwood.
Also new to the top ten is Robert Goolrick's A Reliable Wife, which has been out since 2009 but was recently released in paperback. The dark psychological novel is Goolrick's fiction debut; the American author is also the author of the 2007 memoir The End of the World as We Know It.
