'Three Cups of Tea' sequel out December 1

Published in 2006, Greg Mortenson's
Three Cups of Tea has sold more than three million copies in 39 countries. Mortenson's new book,
Stones Into Schools: Promoting Peace with Books, Not Bombs, in Afghanistan and Pakistan, out December 1, follows the author's continued efforts to build schools across rural Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Following a failed attempt in 1993 to climb K2, the world's second tallest mountain, Greg Mortenson recovered in the small Pakistani village of Korphe. In return for the care he received, he promised to build the town's first school. Inspired by this effort, he went on to found the Central Asia Institute (CAI), which has built nearly 130 schools over more than 16 years.

Three Cups of Tea, co-authored by David Oliver Relin, tells the story of how Mortenson's humanitarian project began. Since its release in 2006, it has been translated into nearly 20 languages and earned literary awards in Italy, Canada, and the USA. The book was also adapted into versions for young adults and children.

Stones Into Schools, which is co-authored by Mike Bryan, picks up where Three Cups of Tea left off in 2003, following Mortenson's CAI as it builds its first school in Afghanistan, as well as the Institute's work in Azad Kashmir and Pakistan after an earthquake hit the region in 2005.

Stones into Schools will published internationally by Viking Press on December 1. The hardcover edition is priced at $26.95. The book will be available from all major outlets. Order the book through Amazon.com via a link at www.stonesintoschools.com, and a portion of the proceeds will go towards the Central Asia Institute.
