Let it Blurt: the life and times of Lester Bangs by Jim DeRogatis
Bangs was a US music critic and performer manqué who gained a reputation for extreme opinions. He was said to have written a 43,000-word appreciation of The Troggs. His lyrics reveal why he failed in his rock ambitions. Shortly before he OD'd in 1982, Bangs wrote that: "Almost all current music is worthless." Though this depressing book is exhaustively researched, there is no mention of his epic paean to The Troggs.
