National Archaeology Day

Various museums and galleries around London, today and tomorrow, many events free

To celebrate on Sunday there are a host of activities around the country this weekend, including a programme of events at the Museum of London (0171-814 5777), where you can take along any mystery objects for identification.

On Saturday, the Tate (0171-887 8764) is hosting "Small Clues and Tall Tales", a drop-in workshop for adults and children from 2-5pm, and the Cuming Museum on Walworth Rd (0171-701 1342) is putting on "Time Detectives" workshops throughout the day (booking is essential).

Royal Festival Hall, London SE1 (0171-921 0600) today to 15 Aug, free

This huge annual dance extravaganza kicks off with "This Is Columbia" on Saturday, which includes children's salsa and art workshops, and Tap Dance Day on Sunday.

Out of Asia

Embankment Gardens, Villiers St, London WC2 (0171-375 0441) tomorrow, 2-6pm, free

More entertainment along the river, including Chinese acrobats, Bengali musicians and Indian dancers.
