Coin Street Festival is London's biggest free festival of music, dance and performance. It runs throughout the summer and kicks off with an afternoon of wild Celtic music from bands such as The Gutty Slippers and The Blazin' Fiddles. There will also be workshops for children, and face-painting.

More activities on the banks of the Thames at this annual celebration of mime and physical theatre, although it may tend to suit quieter kids.

Dulwich Country Fair

It may be stretching it to suggest Dulwich is in the country, but what does it matter? As well as all the usual activities (dog show, gardening, exhibitions, stalls etc) there will be a Children's Entertainment Village including a steam fair, costume-making, circus workshops, a farm and a mobile driving school.

Devon Wildlife Cruise

Grey seals and herons are just some of the creatures you may encounter on this sea cruise run by the Devon Wildlife Trust. Internationally renowned local marine expert Stephen Westcott will be providing the running commentary.

Living Tudor History

Families are invited to experience a day in the life of this Oxfordshire Manor house as it was 400 years ago. You can meet the Washington family (Sulgrave Manor was the ancestral home of George Washington) and their staff and servants, and see how they lived many centuries before the advent of TV, videos and computer games.

Street Theatre & Open Air Art Exhibition

The annual Battle festival, which runs until 27 June, starts this weekend with family activities (street theatre on Saturday and art on Sunday) in the centre of this large historic village. On Sunday, children and adults can bring their own work to exhibit and sell, as well as having their portraits painted.
