You have only to the end of this week to catch up with two serious and seriously funny comedies that boast outstanding all-male casts: Our Boys written and directed by Jonathan Lewis at the Donmar Warehouse and Kevin Elyot's multi-award-winning My Night With Reg at the Criterion.Reuse content
Does-loving people in general let you off the hook when it comes to loving one person in particular? Or vice versa? Skylight (right), David Hare's new play, reunites a pair of ex-lovers who pose this problem in a particularly painful and revealing way. Michael Gambon and Lia Williams are superb as, respectively, the 1980s style entrepreneur and the born- again idealistic teacher in the East End. Richard Eyre's taut, exceptionally involving production is alert to all the intractable ironies and ambiguities that make this fine, even-handed play the best thing Hare has produced since Racing Demon.
