DURING its 21-year history the group has received more than 20 major international awards for its recordings: they include the complete string quartets of Beethoven, Brahms, Berg, Webern, Bartok, and the later quartets of Mozart and Schubert. The players are currently Associate Artists at the South Bank Centre in London. In 1991 they made their first professional visit to the then Soviet Union, and since then there have been high-profile engagements in Vienna, Zurich and Paris. Recent recordings include 10 Mozart quartets and the quartet's live Beethoven cycle for EMI.
