URBAN TORQUE @ heaven

Over the years Heaven has housed many of the best parties in clubland but, since its refurbishment last year, seems to have struggled to find strong residencies for the all-important Friday-night slot.

Urban Torque looks like it may be the answer. As with many of Heaven's most successful nights the tunes of choice will be hard-edged, reflecting a strong techno bias.

In a major coup DJ Juan Atkins has agreed to be the club's resident spinner with scores of big-name support.

In the coming weeks Dave Clarke, Justin Robertson, Carl Cox, Mr C, Derek Carter, Colin Dale and Trevor Rockliffe are all scheduled to appear.

Apart from the techno, there's drum'n'bass and break beats upstairs in the old Star Bar. Be warned, UT is for wall flowers.

Heaven has one of the best mainrooms in the country, and when the vibe is good its dancefloor is in a constant state of flux as hundreds of kids dance through to 6am. You'll need Saturday off to recover.

JAZBAH @ the project

After forging an impressive reputation at The Square Room, JazBah moves up Charing Cross Road to the Project. The cocktail of acid jazz, Latin flavas, hip hop and rare grooves that made JazBah so popular remain, as do the cosmopolitan clientele who give the event an attractive, relaxed party vibe. If you're a little tired of bland house and crescendo beats head to the JazBah for an attractive blend of innovative mixing and a range of musical styles that will keep you pegged to the dancefloor.

INDULGE @ mass

Brixton's Mass goes from strength to strength as rotating events keep their promotions fresh. Tonight Indulge return with a line-up of exclusively British DJs. Producer and remixer Ashley Beedle dons his DJing hat to headline in the main room, with support from Indulge residents Tim Webster and Brendan Downing. In the bar the Dope Smugglaz make a rare DJing appearance. This is an excellent chance to see the dynamic duo performing their beats south of Birmingham.
