The end of September means the end of the birthday bashes and the Ibiza season, but there are plenty of reunions to attend. Radio 1's Essential Mix Ibiza Closing Party sees Pete Tong crank it up at Birmingham's Que Club tonight. Anyone who saw the Essential Mix hit Ibiza's Manumission will realise this gig is a must. Steve Lawler and Jason Bye feature in addition to Cafe Mambo's Pete Gooding. It's the perfect way to remember Ibiza 98 - apparently even Lisa I'Anson is set to appear after her infamous "lost in Ibiza" scare.

Trevor Nelson's monthly soiree, The Lick, was rammed once again last night at Emporium. Named after his MTV show, this event is rapidly becoming the hottest R'n'B gig in the capital and offers a much-needed high profile night to showcase the recent refit.

Further up the M1, at Birmingham's Steering Wheel, Friday night SLAG (Straights Lesbians and Gays) still offers an alluring melting-pot of clubbing debauchery for a cosmopolitan crowd.

Lots of compilations to check out at the moment, the best include Carl Cox's Selection, the excellent Blow the Whole Joint Up (strictly for you break-beat fiends) and the bangin' The End Compilation (above). With the imminent release of the Shamen's last album, you can bet that there will be plenty of cursors to MR C's future musical endeavours.
