Dave Chappelle to Donald Trump voters in Netflix special: 'You are poor. He's fighting for me'

'I know that rich white people call poor white people trash'

After years away, Dave Chappelle came back with two fantastically funny — and controversial — specials, both of which reached Netflix earlier this year.

As part of the comedian’s $60 million deal, Chappelle had to produce a third, brand new special for the streaming service. Having recorded the show, titled Equanimity, after the 2016 US election, he took time to lampoon the newly elected President, Donald Trump.

“I’ve never had a problem with white people ever in my life,” he begins. “But full disclosure; the poor whites are my least favourites. We’ve got a lot of trouble out of them.”

Chappelle then tells of meeting people when queuing to vote, acknowledging everyone waiting seemed “decent folk”, some angry and other determined.

“I’m not even lying, I felt sorry for them,” Chapelle continued. “I know that rich white people call poor white people trash, and the only reason I know that is because I made so much money last year the rich whites told me they say that at a cocktail party. I’m not with that shit.”

The multi-millionaire ended up listening to their “poor, naive white people things” and their views on Donald Trump, one saying the now-President will fight for the poorest.

“And I’m standing there thinking in my mind, you dumb motherf***er! You are poor. He’s fighting for me!” Watch the clip below.
