DETAILS 241 came from Velazquez's Don Diego De Acedo, called El Primo (1644). Unlike other Velazquez's dwarfs, Don Diego was employed by the Spanish court not as a jester, but as a secretary. The picture is in the Prado, Madrid.
The first three correct entries drawn were from: Rosemary Windsor, of Gosforth, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne; Jim Blackwell, of Liverpool; and Freya Dalston, of Southwold, Suffolk.
Each will receive a bottle of champagne, as will this week's winners. Answers, on a postcard please, to DETAILS 243, the Independent on Sunday, 1 Canada Square, Canary Wharf, London E14 5DL.Reuse content
