Edinburgh Festival Day 1: Free Tickets

Every day throughout the Festival, the Independent will be offering free tickets for selected shows. To claim them, simply turn up at the respective box office after 10am brandishing a copy of the Independent.

Today we are offering five pairs of tickets for The Magic Music Box, a show for children aged four and over, 10am at the Gilded Balloon, venue 38 (031-226 2151). There are also five pairs for John Shuttleworth's Guide to Stardom, a cult insider's guide to showbiz success; Sheffield's light entertainer launches punters on a rollercoaster round the world of glitz at The Pleasance, venue 33 (031-556 6550) at 7.05pm. Also at The Pleasance, at 9pm, there are five pairs of tickets for Borderline Theatre's Waiting for Tommy, a surreal exploration of the life of Tommy Cooper. Finally, people's poet John Hegley hosts a meeting of his Tattoo O'Clock Poetry Club at The Assembly Rooms, venue 3 (031-226 2428) at 2pm; we have two pairs of tickets to give away.

The following International Festival show is fully booked today: Greenwich Theatre Company's performance of CP Taylor's Schippel.
