Edinburgh Festival Day 6 & 7: The shock of the old: Rolf Harris and company, satisfaction guaranteed
Good old boys are hot property on this year's comedy circuit. George Melly, Barry Cryer, Colin Dexter, Ned Sherrin and Michael Bentine are pulling in punters all over the city. But Rolf Harris put all the rest into the shade at the start of the week with his appearance on Mervyn Stutter's lunch-time chat-show, Have You Seen Anything Good? at the Pleasance. He followed the Doug Anthony Allstars, who gave Rolf a bit of a drubbing with gags like 'There's only one reason I can think of for tying down a kangaroo'. But the trio were completely upstaged when heckle-proof Rolf recruited them as his backing group for his now legendary version of 'Stairway to Heaven'. And his solo version of And 'Satisfaction', rearranged for voice and wobble-board, is one of the priceless moments of this year's Festival. When Rolf comes back to town for two shows at the George Square Theatre at midnight on 27 and 28 August, expect to see the Allstars in the queue to get in.
