Happy Madison, Adam Sandler's production company, bought the rights to a short film, Pixels, which has became a viral hit on YouTube. The comic actor is in talks with Columbia Pictures to develop a 3D movie based on the idea.
The film depicts a cartoon-like sci-fi invasion of New York City by iconic videogame characters, such as Pac Man gobbling the subway, 8-bit creatures turning buildings into building blocks, and even a King Kong attacking from the Empire State Building.
Patrick Jean, who created the inventive short, is a director for One More Production, a full-service visual effects company based in Paris that makes commercials, music videos and other films.
