Director protests with all-star 'Machete' trailer
Monday 10 May 2010
The cast of upcoming film
Machete includes Robert DeNiro, Lindsay Lohan, Don Johnson, Cheech Marin, Steven Seagal, Jessica Alba (
Valentine's Day), Michelle Rodriguez (
Avatar), and Danny Trejo who will star in the upcoming
Predators and Sylvester Stallone movie
Written and co-directed by Robert Rodriguez ( Spy Kids films, Sin City, Desperado) with Ethan Maniquis, this action-thriller shows an ex-federal agent launching a brutal attack of revenge on an organization after being betrayed by a former boss.
The film releases in September in the US and several other countries, but the trailer hit theaters last weekend with a "special message for the state of Arizona," expressing the Mexican-American director's protest against the controversial law Arizona passed recently allowing local law enforcement to inquire about a person's immigrant status.
The idea for the film is based on a popular fake trailer for Rodriguez's film Grindhouse.
