Film trailer: Gondry's 'Green Hornet' with Rogen and Waltz
Tuesday 23 November 2010
The second trailer for
The Green Hornet delivers a more comedic version than the initial teaser, showing some good lines and repartee between Seth Rogen (
Funny People), who portrays the Green Hornet, and Kato, played by Taiwanese actor Jay Chou.
Released last weekend, the footage quickly establishes the set up of the story following Britt Reid, the partying son of a media mogul who inherits a publishing business when his father dies, and changes his wayward ways to do something good with his life.
As he turns into his alter ego, a masked superhero called the Green Hornet, he fights crime at night, enlisting his father's former aide, Kato, a martial arts expert and inventor of impressive super gadgets and high-tech gear.
Due to a lack of fighting skills, Reid is outfitted with a green gas gun which is good for some gags. Kato has also souped up the Black Beauty, a 1965 Chrysler Imperial outfitted with hood guns, bumper rockets, grill-mounted flamethrowers and more.
Armed, the pair face a battle with the villain Chudnofsky, played by Oscar winner Christoph Waltz ( Inglourious Basterds).
Directed by Michel Gondry ( Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind), the film costars Cameron Diaz, Tom Wilkinson and Edward James Olmos.
It will be converted to 3D and released January 14, 2011.
