The first trailer for Roman Polanski's latest film, Carnage, reveals Oscar winners Kate Winslet ( Revolutionary Road) and Christoph Waltz ( Inglourious Basterds) as parents in the adaptation of the Tony- and Olivier-winning God of Carnage (originally Le Dieu du Carnage) by the playwright Yasmina Reza.

The footage of Winslet's character losing her cool in the trailer recalls another film of two couples, the classic Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? starring Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, also adapted from a play.

The ensemble cast also includes Oscar winner Jodie Foster ( The Accused) and Oscar-nominated John C. Reilly ( Chicago) as another set of parents who are trying to sort out a brawl between their sons.

What begins as a cordial encounter deteriorates into chaos as the couples come unglued during the discussion.

Carnage will be screened at the Venice Film Festival and the New York Film Festival in September. The film opens in November in France, Spain and Greece, on December 16 in North America in time for Oscar eligibility, and in early 2012 worldwide.
