The first trailer for a new Muppets movie was released on May 23, starring Amy Adams ( The Fighter) and Jason Segel ( Gulliver's Travels), who also co-wrote the screenplay.
This preview opens as a tongue-in-cheek set-up for a faux romantic-comedy called Green With Envy, about a couple who encounter troubles when celebrating their anniversary in Hollywood.
Half-way into the trailer, Kermit, Miss Piggy, Animal, and the rest of the Muppet gang enter, as if a surprise.
The story that follows finds the Muppets reuniting, with the help of three fans including Segel's character, to save their old studio from a greedy oil tycoon, Tex Richman, played by Chris Cooper ( The Town).
The Muppets reunite on the big screen for the first time since 1999's Muppets from Space.
The film will also features Emily Blunt, Zach Galifianikis, Jack Black, Ricky Gervais, Selena Gomez, Ed Helms ( The Hangover) and John Krasinski ( It's Complicated), Katy Perry, Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl, and the voice of Brian Henson, son of Jim Henson, the creator of the Muppets.
The Muppets opens in North America November 23, France on December 28, Australia on January 1, Germany on January 19, and in the UK February 17, 2012.
