The Oscar-winning actor from
The Hurt Locker and more recently
The Town, Jeremy Renner is planning his next project,
Slingshot, about the World Rally Championships.
Renner's company, The Combine, is developing the project, based on Bill Caswell, a former finance banker who bought a BMW for $500 on Craigslist, rebuilt it and competed in the professional rally. His DIY project placed third in the Rally America class.
Renner expects to star as Caswell, but his upcoming busy schedule may delay production. Currently, the actor is shooting The Avengers, starring as Hawkeye in the Marvel team of comic book superheroes including Iron Man and The Hulk.
Up next is The Bourne Legacy, the franchise that formerly starred Matt Damon, for release in 2012 and Better Living Through Chemistry costarring Jennifer Garner.
Renner just finished production on Mission Impossible - Ghost Protocol with Tom Cruise, due to debut December 16. He also finished Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters with Gemma Arterton ( Prince of Persia). He will voice a character in the animated kids' film Ice Age: Continental Drift and is looking to star in a planned biopic on Steve McQueen.
