MTV Movie Awards to announce nominees, open fan voting on May 3
Sunday 01 May 2011
MTV's 20th annual Movie Awards are coming up on June 5 to recognize fan favorites and award prizes such as Best Kiss and Best Villain. The network announced this week that its host for the event will be Jason Sudeikis, and it is set to announce nominees on May 3, when fans will be able to vote for their choices online.
Hosting the event will be Jason Sudeikis, a regular cast member on the comedy sketch show Saturday Night Live since 2003. He recently costarred with Owen Wilson in Hall Pass and in 2010 he appeared in Going the Distance with Drew Barrymore and The Bounty Hunter with Jennifer Aniston.
Previously the comic actor costarred in The Rocker with last year's MTV Movie Awards host Aziz Ansari and this summer he joins Jason Bateman in Horrible Bosses.
"I'm sincerely flattered that the folks from the Mostly Teenage Viewers network have invited me to host this year," Sudeikis stated for the channel's press release.
Previous hosts have included Ben Stiller, Justin Timberlake, and other SNL comedians Andy Samberg and Jimmy Fallon.
Reality show producer Mark Burnett ( Survivor, The Apprentice, Rock'n'Roll Fantasy Camp) will be the executive producer.
The nominees for the 2011 show will be announced May 3, when favorite films and stars will be posted online for voting until June 4. The Best Movie category remains open throughout the live show.
The MTV Movie Awards will air live on June 5 at 9 p.m. ET at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Los Angeles, California.
