Thanks to the 2014 Sony Email hack, the world got word of a Jump Street/Men in Black crossover. Then, in April last year, the studio confirmed they were discussing the film with 21 and 22 Jump Street directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller.

In March earlier this year, reports speculated that The Muppets’ James Bobbin was in talks to direct, seemingly solidifying the idea this movie could actually, really happen.

Finally, the project has a name: MIB 23, combining both sequel 23 Jump Street and the Men in Black title while also poking fun at the umpteen sequels/team-ups Hollywood is currently producing (for instance, Batman v Superman and King Kong vs. Godzilla).

Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill are widely expected to be returning to the show, while it is unclear whether Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones will be back.

Rodney Rotham, who wrote 22 Jump Street, wrote the script. Lord and Miller will likely not work on the project as they’re set to be busy on the as-yet untitled Han Solo spin-off.
