Aunt May actor Sally Field hated those Amazing Spider-Man films too

"You can't put ten pounds of sh*t in a five-pound bag"

Despite the fact that five years haven't yet passed, it's surprisingly difficult to recall those distinctly average Amazing Spider-Man films starring Andrew Garfield.

Plans to continue the franchise - a reboot of Sam Raimi's original trilogy - were swiftly trounced when the sequel failed to set the box-office alight.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has since acquired the character with Tom Holland set to make his debut as the web-slinger in next month's Captain America: Civil War.

Actor Sally Field, who played Aunt May, has spoken candidly about her time working on the films in 2012 and 2014, Vulture reports.

When asked by Howard Stern if she liked them, Field replied: "Not especially; it's not my kind of movie."

The Mrs. Doubtfire star went on to explain what possessed her to accept the role in the first place.

"...my friend Laura Ziskin was the producer, and we knew it would be her last film, and she was my first producing partner, and she was a spectacular human."

Ziskin sadly passed away in 2011.

She admits she didn't put "...a great deal" into the role, saying "It's really hard to find a three-dimensional character in it, and you work it as much as you can, but you can't put ten pounds of shit in a five-pound bag."

Field isn't the only actor to have recently revealed her true feelings about projects she's worked on.

This week, Ian McShane - ahead of his appearance in season six - branded Game of Thrones "tits and dragon", while Stephen Dillane, who starred in the show as Stannis Baratheon, claimed he has never understood the fantasy epic series' success.
