Black Mass trailer: Johnny Depp might have started making good films again
Tense trailer centres around an uncomfortable dinner party
Following the mixed bag of let-downs that were Transcendence, The Lone Ranger and all of the Pirates of the Caribbean films, it looks like Johnny Depp's agent might have got things back on track, with the first trailer for Black Mass looking promising.
Depp transforms into notorious Boston gangster Whitey Bulger for the crime drama, which comes from Crazy Heart director Scott Cooper.
The trailer revolves around a dinner party gone sour, and while it kind of rips off that infamous Joe Pesci scene in Goodfellas, it's quite chilling all the same.
The film has an impressive supporting cast, with Benedict Cumberbatch, Juno Temple, Dakota Johnson, Kevin Bacon and Joel Edgerton also appearing.
Bulger headed up a violent criminal gang in Boston, whilst serving as an FBI informant.
In 2011, *spoiler alert*, he was arrested aged 81 and sentenced to two consecutive life terms in prisons for 19 counts of murder, racketeering, narcotics distribution and extortion.
Black Mass hits cinemas 25 September.
