Former Disney Chairman Jeffrey Katzenberg shares email he sent to Harvey Weinstein

Former chairman of Walt Disney Studios Jeffrey Katzenberg has published an email sent to Harvey Weinstein in the wake of sexual abuse allegations against the producer.

Katzenberg and Weinstein worked together for over 30 years, Katzenberg overseeing the purchase of Weinstein's production company Miramax by Disney.

Like many Hollywood big-wigs, Katzenberg received a “desperate” email from Weinstein following the public allegations, asking for the former Dreamworks studio CEO’s allegiance, writing: “A lot of the allegations are false as you know.”

Katzenberg has since spoken to The Hollywood Reporter, saying: "I was paralyzed [after receiving the email]. didn't know whether I should not respond, or respond and express the way I truly felt.”

After speaking to multiple close friends and colleagues, Katzenberg decided to respond Weinstein, writing: “You yourself, in your quotes, have acknowledged that you have behaved inappropriately… so it seems to me we are now down to degrees of horrible.

“You have done terrible things to a number of women over a period of years. I cannot in any way say this is OK with me… It's not at all, and I am sickened by it, angry with you and incredibly disappointed in you.

"There appear to be two Harvey Weinsteins… one that I have known well, appreciated and admired and another that I have not known at all.”

Katzenberg concludes that Weinstein can contact him for advice. The letter was sent before Weinstein was fired from The Weinstein Co. and Hollywood stars Gwyneth Paltrow, Angelina Jolie, and Léa Seydoux made accusations.

Meanwhile, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has issued a statement condemning Weinstein and calling for an emergency meeting of Academy members.
