Having won hearts in Room and stole every single 2016 red carpet event there's been, nine-year-old actor Jacob Tremblay's next role looks to be as moving as the one that launched him to the big time earlier this year.

He'll star in Wonder which is based on the best-selling children's novel by R.J. Palacio; the story follows August "Auggie" Pullman, a young boy born with facial differences who becomes an unlikely hero upon joining the fifth grade.

Starring alongside Tremblay in the film is Julia Roberts and Owen Wilson as Auggie's parents as well as Homeland actor Mandy Patinkin.

Director Stephen Chobsky wrote the script alongside Steven Conrad and Jack Thorne - whose play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is currently scoring huge audiences in London's West End.

Tremblay appeared in Lenny Abrahamson's Room alongside Brie Larson who went on to win the Best Actress Oscar for her role as Joy, a woman taken captive and locked in a boxed structure seven years previous.

The young actor's upcoming list of credits includes thriller Shut In, adventure Shut Your Maps and Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow's The Book of Henry.

Wonder will be released in cinemas on 7 April 2017.
