Natasha Kaplinsky shows off her latest news - the first picture of her baby boy.

The newsreader's baby, who has not yet been named, was born at a London hospital on Thursday at 8.30am.

The photographs were taken of the baby, alongside his mother Kaplinsky and her investment banker husband Justin Bower, five days after he was born.

The black-and-white images were shown on Five News last night.

Kaplinsky, 36, made her debut as the face of Five's news coverage, in a deal reported to be worth £1m a year, in February.

Her first broadcast attracted one million viewers - almost double the usual audience.

The move to Five marked the latest in a career that has seen Kaplinsky make an almost complete tour of the British news networks.

Since first being selected to present the early morning news bulletins at ITV Meridian in 1997, she has worked for ITV London, Sky News and BBC Breakfast before moving to the station's Six O'Clock News.

During her time on Strictly Come Dancing, she was linked to her dance partner Brendan Cole but has denied there was any romance.

She caused a stir when she moved to Five by admitting she was not worth her reputed £1m salary.

At Five, Kaplinsky replaced Kirsty Young, who became pregnant with her second child, Iona, while at the broadcaster, where she famously used to read the news perched on a desk.

Selina Scott has launched a legal battle accusing the channel of age discrimination, claiming it backed out of a presenting deal to cover Kaplinsky's maternity leave because she is too old.

Isla Traquair has been unveiled as the sole presenter of the Five News 7pm slot.
