Mark Hamil lends hand to campaign trying to get terminally ill Star Wars fan to see Rogue One early

Mark Hamill his lent his support to a campaign hoping to get a terminally ill cancer patient and Star Wars fan an early screening of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

In April earlier this year, Neil Hanvey, from Oldham, was informed by doctors he only had six to eight months to live.

The 36-six-year old is currently receiving treatment at St Michael's Hospice in Hereford, one of the staff members of the hospice - Amy Duncan - having started the campaign to get Hanvey to see the film early.

She sent out a Facebook message promoting the campaign last week alongside the hashtag #RogueOneWish.

Since then, the hashtag has picked up momentum, with the numerous publications picking up on the campaign, with Mark Hamill, who plays Luke Skywalker in the original series, retweeting one such news outlet.

Last year, Star Wars fan Daniel Fleetwood was shown an early screening of Star Wars: The Force Awakens before he died, having been diagnosed with terminal cancer the previous June.

Rogue One reaches cinemas this December.
