Matthew McConaughey's next role sounds perfect.

Mr. "alright, alright, alright" has signed on to lead Harmony Korine's next project The Beach Bum, according to Variety; recounting the wacky misadventures of a character called Moondog, who's described as a "rebellious and lovable rogue who lives life large".

Sounds like your typical McConaughey character then, though what's particularly exciting here is Korine's involvement, as he'll both be writing and directing the stoner comedy.

Korine's last film was 2011's Spring Breakers, which crystallised every ounce of James Franco's charm into what's, arguably, his most outrageously memorable performance yet; as Florida's own local rapper and drug dealer Alien, who's all about guns, a wide variety of shorts, and Britney Spears tunes.

Thorsten Schumacher, CEO and founder of distributor Rocket Science, said that “McConaughey’s Moondog character is pure charisma — a force of nature and an uncompromising maverick with a lust for life and everything it throws at him. The Beach Bum brings together an incredible team of acting, directing and producing talent."

The film is yet to secure a release date.
