The release of the new James Bond film No Time to Die has been postponed until November.

The Twitter account for the 007 franchise announced the news on Wednesday.

“MGM, Universal and Bond producers, Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, announced today that after careful consideration and thorough evaluation of the global theatrical marketplace, the release of No Time to Die will be postponed until November 2020,” the message reads.

No Time to Die will now come out on 12 November in the UK and 25 November in the US.

It was originally planned for release on 2 April in the UK and 10 April in the US.

The announcement comes two days after a popular James Bond blog called for the release of No Time to Die to be postponed due to the coronavirus.

“With the coronavirus reaching pandemic status, it is time to put public health above marketing release schedules and the cost of cancelling publicity events,” the letter, published by MI6-HQ.com, reads in part.

“Major events around the world have already been cancelled or postponed due to health risks. Leading tech companies have banned travel for hundreds of thousands of employees, including Amazon and Google. All before the US and UK outbreaks expand.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the coronavirus outbreak could bring estimated losses of $5bn for the film industry as the outbreak impacts production and limits box office revenue.

Cinemas in China have closed. Attendance in Italy and South Korea has dropped, and the same trend is expected in Japan.

No Time to Die is expected to be Daniel Craig's final outing as Bond. It also stars Rami Malek, Léa Seydoux, Lashana Lynch, Ben Wishaw and Naomie Harris.
