The cast and crew of Point Break have been spotted in Teahupo’o, on the island of Tahiti, shooting scenes for the upcoming remake of the Nineties classic.

Tikanui Smith was seen riding a wave as other surfers watched on during filming on the action crime thriller on Thursday.

The remake stars British actor Ray Winstone as FBI agent Angelo Pappas, Luke Bracey as FBI agent Johnny Utah and Edgar Ramirez as Bodhi, the charismatic bank robber.

The original 1991 film was directed by Oscar-winner Kathryn Bigelow and starred Patrick Swayze as Bodhi and Keanu Reeves as Utah.

The role of Pappas was played by Gary Busey, who won last night's Celebrity Big Brother.

Point Break followed Reeves' FBI agent attempting to hunt down and infiltrate of a group of bank robbers, led by Bodhi, after he realises that they all surf together.

The film was a box office success and became a cult classic, there were even notable references made to Point Break in British comedy Hot Fuzz.

The remake of Point Break will be out at the end of July next year.
