Star Trek Discovery Season 2 trailer for Netflix

December 2017 was an extremely exciting month for Star Trek fans.

Not only was Star Trek: Discovery‘s first season midway through its run, but news broke that filmmaker Quentin Tarantino was preparing to boldly go where no man has gone before.

What exactly the Pulp Fiction director’s forthcoming Star Trek movie will look like remains broadly unknown. There’s still no confirmation over who will direct, nor whether the cast will return from the JJ Abrams’ produced trilogy.

Speaking to Empire Magazine, Tarantino was able to confirm what little we know about the project. Asked whether the film will be R-rated, AKA include swearing and graphic content, the director said: “It’s an R-rated movie. If I do it, it’ll be R-rated.”

Commenting on the current state of the script, he said: “There’s a script that exists for it now. I need to weigh in on it, but I haven’t been able to do that yet.”

Tarantino has been busy working on his ninth film, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, which recently premiered at Cannes Film Festival.

With a large ensemble cast that includes Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio and Margot Robbie, the film will explore hippie culture and the Hollywood studio system in late 1960s Los Angeles, around the time of the infamous Manson Family Murders.

Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood will be released in the UK on 14 August.
