Steve Carell tipped to star in Looney Tunes spin-off movie
No plot details have yet been revealed about the film
Steve Carell is reportedly attached to a planned Looney Tunes spin-off movie.
The Anchorman and 40-year-old Virgin star has been tipped to appear in the comedy being written by X-Men: First Class writers Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
No plot details have yet been revealed about the Acme film, which is being developed by Warner Bros., but it is believed that no original Looney Tunes characters will take centre stage.
Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, who directed Crazy Stupid Love – in which Carell also stared- are said to be in early talks to direct the as yet untitled movie.
Dan Lin and Roy Lee, of The Lego Movie, are producing, while Chantal Nong and Jon Gonda are overseeing for the studio.
The movie will reportedly blend a mixture of live-action and CGI animation.
Carell is soon to appear in the Oscar-tipped Foxcatcher, a biographical drama is based on the true story of Olympic wrestler Mark Schultz.
Directed by Oscar-nominated Bennett Miller, whose past credits includes Capote and Moneyball, the film sees Carell in the role of eccentric millionaire John du Pont, whose bid to train Olympic standard wrestlers sets off a chain of unlikely events that ultimately end in tragedy.
Channing Tatum and Mark Ruffalo star alongside Carell as wrestling brothers Mark and David Schultz.
