Bonnie and Clyde's rampage across America ended on 23 May, 1934, when they were ambushed and killed on a rural road in Bienville Parish, Louisiana.

A new Netflix film tells the story of the men caught them. Directed by John Lee Hancock (Saving Mr Banks, The Blind Side), The Highwaymen will follow the two detectives, Frank Harner and Maney Gault, who tracked the infamous duo down.

The full plot synopsis reads: "The outlaws made headlines. The lawmen made history... The Highwaymen follows the untold true story of the legendary detectives who brought down Bonnie and Clyde."

When the full force of the FBI and the latest forensic technology aren’t enough to capture the nation’s most notorious criminals, two former Texas Rangers must rely on their gut instincts and old school skills to get the job done."

Filmed on location in Texas and Louisiana, the film sees Kevin Costner star as Harner and Woody Harrelson star as Gault. Kathy Bates and Kim Dickens also feature.
