Marvel’s ever-expanding Cinematic Universe could be about to lose its greatest villain: Loki.

While Tom Hiddleston is set to play the God of Mischief in Thor: Ragnarok next year, he’s not sure if he will be returning for the next big part in Marvel’s world, Avengers: Infinity War.

"Thor 3 will be cool because I’ve not done it for four years,” the actor told The Daily Beast. “I love working with Chris [Hemsworth]. This will be my last time out of the gate.”

When pressed further about Avengers, he revealed that Marvel may not actually be as organised as we all thought.

“I don’t know! Honestly, I don’t know,” he said of making an appearance in the superhero flick. “They haven’t got their ducks in a row yet. They make it up as they go along.”

Hiddleston has played Loki three times in the past, having starred in Thor, Avengers and Thor: The Dark World. Many fans have heralded him as the best Marvel villain to be featured in their Cinematic Universe so far, probably down to the fact he’s one of the only villains to last more than a single film.

In other superhero news, it has been revealed that James Gunn has already been approached about a sequel to Guardians of the Galaxy 2. Meanwhile, DC’s latest flick - Batman v Superman - may have been making a lot at the box office, but it still has a long way to go to turn a profit.
